No "Cabaties"

My very good friend, Amber (Thompson) Owens and her husband, Nathan, opened up a dentist office in Pulaski a couple of years ago. I normally wouldn't go to the Dentist an hour and a half away but it happens to work out perfect, I get to support my friends as well as visit my Grandparents! I figured I had better get a cleaning in before the baby comes and it just so happened that Grant was due for his first cleaning as well! I was a little nervous on how he'd behave so I've been amping it up and really talking about it when we brush our teeth every day. When we got there, Grant felt right at home. He got his flash light and started looking for alligators behind the couch cushions and curtains, luckily none were found! He then came over to Buddy and I and asked us to "Say Ahhhhh" and searched our mouth for "Cabaties" (cavaties).

Here he is pointing at me saying "Mommy... you got cabaties"?
Checking out Buddy...
I could've sworn I took more pictures but I guess I didnt :( But Grant was a TROOPER! He LOVED "Ms. Ambuh" as he called her. She was awesome with him and showed him all of her "special tools". I wished I could remember what she called them, very creative! He sat there and did everything she asked and she got his teeth cleaned without any fight!

Then it was time for Dr. Nathan to come in and give his teeth a look and check out the cleaning. He was a little unsure of "Dr. Nafan". He frowned those eyebrows and sealed his little lips. Dr. Nathan sd "Hey Grant, can you show me your teeth and where Amber cleaned them for you"? He sd "Um No.... Im a little too busy". We all hit the floor laughing and after a little persuading and showing Dr. Nathan our Buzz Lightyear, he let him check his teeth! I am happy to say that Grant and I both got a perfect report!
While I got my teeth cleaned, Mom took Grant on over to Granny and Gpa's for lunch and a visit! Grant loved helping Buddy pick up sticks!

I am terribly disappointed in these next few pictures. I dont know why they are all so blurry :(

We had a great lunch and visit with Granny and Gpa! And a special thanks to Amber and Nathan for making Grant's first cleaning so pleasant! It was good visiting with them as well!

Yates Bday Party

Happy 3rd Birthday Yates! We took Grant to his cousins bday party on Sunday at a "Bounce House" and it was so much fun! The birthday boy was cute as ever and super excited for his Toy Story party!
When we got there little Tol was in a little bit of a funk, and so was Grant. That was until they saw each other and then they took off playing and laughing.
All the kids ran for a while and then we all got to enjoy some yummy cake that Kelly made and watch Yates open his presents, he got some great stuff!

Grant loved this Tiger slide/inflatable. He'd get to the top and say "Rawwwr... watch me Daddy" So cute.

Next I look over and hear a commotion going on and DeeDee and Franklin motion me to come over to find the below picture. Grant had decided to follow Tol on this HUGE slide that literally went straight down. I typically carry Grant up these slides and go down with him, but clearly I cant do that right now. Anyways, there became a crowd of people watching as Grant started to bottle-neck the line.
Finally, with lots of encouragement from his cousin and a little help he made it to the top. Franklin and I both were a nervous wreck because I felt certain he was gonna fall and tumble down. But he didnt...
This picture explains it all.. his face is absolutely PRICELESS!!!!!!!!
When he landed at the bottom everyone cheered for him and he was so proud... so were Franklin and I!!!!!!!
It was a really fun party! Happy Birthday Yates!

Zoo Two's

For Christmas, Grant's Uncle Sam and Rachel got Grant a pass for the zoo's "Zoo Two's" class. Its every Saturday for 6 Saturday's in a row! What a FANTASTIC gift this has been. We are always looking for things to do on the weekends esp during the colder months. Last Saturday we took Grant for his 1st class and it was a HIT! We started off by coloring and then gathering in a circle. The teacher talked about "Eyes" and what we see with them. The got up and walked around the room to look through different colored windows and explaining what they could see.
After that, they gathered back in a circle (I let Franklin take him since my belly gets in the way and I get to do stuff like this with him every week) and she explained to the kids how different animals have different eyes and proceeded to bring an animal out.
I wished this picture had come out clearer :( She first brought out a baby Owl, it was PRECIOUS! Grant LOVES birds and you should have seen his face when she got him out, he shouted "OOOH Dats an OWL DADDY".
Unfortunately, I do not recall this Owl's name!
Next she talked about animals that more than two eyes, and this particular one has 8.. who knew? It was a taranchula (sp?) named "Harriet". Grant liked her too!
Here is Grant asking his Daddy "You like dat Spida Daddy"?
After bringing out two animals, they had "craft time" where they made their own spider. They gave us clay, pipe cleaners, and paper clips.
Here is our finished product... I cant help but laugh at this.. he has legs coming out of his head! But who cares, Grant was VERY proud of it!
After that, they had story and a snack and class was dismissed. We were given permission to walk through the zoo if we wanted, but being that most of the animals arent out and the fact that it was snowing we went to see the fish and aquarium animals! Grant LOVED this, he could've stayed for hours. I can't wait to take him to Chattanooga to the big Aquarium!
He found an iguana.

I am NOT a fan of snakes... not in the least bit and I typically dont even like to look a them or see them on TV, but I couldn't help but take a picture of this dude... look at his blue eye. CREEPY and a little cool at the same time.
One of Grant's favorite movies is "Finding Nemo", and in the movie their is a Sting Ray named "Mr. Ray", and Grant was tickled to death when he found a black and white "Mr.Ray"
Next he found the frogs.. these guys were so neat... they dont even look real!

Im not sure what this thing was, he was a cross between a snake and a lizard. YUCK
And as I snapped this last picture, Franklin made fun of me and sd "A perfect ending for your blog post". Hahah.. but I couldn't help it.. he had such a great time and wore himself out!

THANK YOU RACHEL AND SAM for a very thoughtful gift! WE LOVE IT!

Off The Charts!

On Monday I took Grant to the Dr for a checkup and to get his last vaccine. He was definately a character for Dr. Bradley. She was so proud of him for being potty trained esp at his age. While discussing potty training and big boy underwear he proceeded to take them off, put them on his head and bend over and tell her "Hi" through his legs! NICE! Pretty sure my face was as red as a tomato but I couldnt help but giggle and quickly apologized. Lucky for me she has three boys and thought it was hysterical.

To sum up this post I got tickled at his measurements when she brought me the above chart (If you click on it you can see it better). She sd "As you can see Grant has been "off the charts" since he was 9 months old. Did she say 9 months old? I mean, I knew he was a big baby/boy but for some reason that just struck a chord with me. She sd.. he's so healthy but measures almost as a 4 year old. He weighs in at 38 lbs and is 41 1/2 inches tall. CRAZY! She sd.. he's just a good/healthy/tall boy! Thats all I needed to hear! For fun I found a picture of Grant and I at the beach.. he had JUST turned 9 months! Looking back, I had no one to compare him to, to realize he was such a big boy.. but now... I see it!!!!!!!
And then here he is with his 21 months old cousin (left) and his 4 1/2 yr old cousin (right)! Yep.. I'd say he's "Off the charts"! My back happens to agree!!!!!!!!!
PS. I guess the fact that he's in 4T clothes... should've been another sign!
