Expanding Vocabulary!

Grant LOVES to read and his little vocabulary is really expanding! Although most people probably dont understand what he's saying... Franklin and I know exactly what he means (taky "my mik" for instance.. thats my milk!)! His new thing is pointing out your "Eah's" (ears), "Iss" (eyes.. sounds more like a curse word), and "Teesh" (teeth). He also likes animals .. "Chichin" is chicken, "Bum-ba-b" is bumblebee, Cow.. he's got that one down but says "Mah" instead of Moo, "Shish" is fish, and "Hursh" is horse! Anyways.. I video'd him as we were going over pages in a book tonight.. listen carefully to him.. its funny! At the end he points out the Pig's ears and eyes.. I love it when he says "eahs"!

"Out-shide"

Grant's new obsession is going to play "outshide"! We get so tickled at him because for some reason every time he says the word "outside" he whispers it, no matter what! I got a video of him playing today.. he was pretty focused on his juice(which you can hear him chugging it!) so it was hard to get him to do anything else! I love it when I say "Grant... are you outside?" He nods his head "yes" at me!! At the end of the video he whispers "outshide" several times!!!

A Break for Mama!

Ahhh.. Many thanks to Papa G and DeeDee for keeping Grant for us! I felt like I was at the brink of pure exhaustion due to Grant's shots, his teething, and NO NAPS this past week! They bravely offered to babysit him to let me get some rest! My wonderful husband pampered me and we even went on a date! Franklin hasnt been to the movies since I was 7 months pregnant with Grant, we went to see Couples Retreat and it was hilarious!!! We forgot how much fun it was, and how old we are.. gosh a 7pm movie is pushing it for me!

Saturday when we picked Grant up, Dad had invited Tol, Kelly and the boys over and had we all had a cookout. When Tol got to the house he was on a mission, when he gets something on his mind, there is no stopping him. He has already built my Dad the cornhole game and this time decided to build the Washers game... so he didnt eat until the game was built (what a weird-o.. food is always first!)! Tol and I usually always rival against each other (he makes me ill he's too competitive!!!) but this time we teamed up together.. we were tough to beat! Here are some pics of Grant's stay and our afternoon Cookout!

I have to admit DeeDee makes the BEST mashed potatoes.. I dont know what she does to them but they're divine! Grant ate an entire bowl of them!

After a great dinner of Turkey, Dressing, and Mashed Potatoes.. it was bathtime.. he LOVES to brush his "teesh".

Papa got wild when washing his hair!!!!

After a good bath, Grant decided to help DeeDee load the dishwasher and clean up (Poor DeeDee!)!
Then.. he knew it was bedtime.. so he went and gave Jewell some "love" before bed!

Uncle Tol and Grant!

Yates didnt want Grant near his toy.. he kept yelling "Mine ... Mine"... Grant would just look at him like "whatever dude" and try to take it again! However.. notice Yates didn't let go!

Here is Grant cheering me on in a game of Washers!
You might be a Redneck if........

Grant desperately trying to figure out how to play cornhole!

.... and he got the concept!

This is his half whine/half smile face... he was so tired and trying to laugh... I think he looks ROUGH! This is when I knew it was time to go home!
Thanks again Papa and DeeDee... I needed the rest!
PS.. Dad, dont feel bad he bit me today too.. .little Terd!

12 month checkup!

OK OK.. so I know Im behind! Grant turned 14 months last Friday but I'm just now getting around to his 12 month checkup (gotta love insurance!)! I took him yesterday and it came as no surprise that his charts showed him as a very big boy! We're talking 97th-100th percentile in all categories.. yep, thats my boy! Again.. the Dr reassured me he's just tall, not fat or abnormal!!! He's as tall as most 2 year olds! He weighed in at 27 lbs and 35 inches tall!!!! He got three of the four shots, I chose to hold off on the MMR until at LEAST 18 mths if not longer, it scares me! He did great but it broke my heart.. she stuck him and he looked at me with big alligator tears and a abright red face, he held his little arms out and screamed " MY MOMMA, MY MOMMA", with each shot the shouting got louder! As soon as she was done I scooped him up and the crying stopped... He was such a trooper!
I can't believe how much he's grown, he does something new almost everyday! His vocabulary is booming and he's getting VERY independent too. He doesnt want me to help him eat at all.. notice the picture above.. that was him eating meatloaf at Buddy's house! Today, He fed himself tomato soup for lunch with a spoon and then asked me for "Shauce" aka: Applesauce and also ate that without assitance! It took roughly 35 minutes but thats ok, a boy has got to learn! I was surprised to only find it on his bib and not everywhere else! Im so proud of him!

Grant's Baby Dedication Ceremony!

Yesterday was such a wonderful and emotional time for me! I have been wanting to have Grant dedicated at church since he's been born but either the time didnt feel right or we weren't going to be in town on the day of dedication. I finally decided that I couldnt wait and I was not missing the Nov. baby dedication! Grant's Great Aunt, Mary Jo, sent us his beautiful outfit and I have to say I dont think I could've picked out anything more perfect! We got ready early and had to be at the church an hour before the ceremony started, those of you with children understand the chaos that can occur with that! Now that Grant is walking (well .. running) he's so hard to keep still! He managed to walk up to some baby and yank his sock off and then run off and fall on the concrete (notice how red his little knees are!). All in all it was a WONDERFUL night!

I thought he looked like a little Angel!

Me... chasing him around in stilletos.. gosh my feet were hurting!

This was during the ceremony, they announced the child, the parents, and showed a picture!

Here we are with the Associate Pastor, Pastor Jim, he annointed Grant with oil and then prayed over us as a family!

A tearful Mommy desperately trying not to fall!
So proud!

Here we are with Pastor Allen Jackson!

Grant - after the ceremony.. desperate to climb those steps!

Playing with Grandma!

We desperately tried to get all three cousins' pictures made... IT NEVER HAPPENS!
It was a such a beautiful evening full of family! I would like to thank everyone who travelled to be a part of our special night (Buddy, Grandaddy, Papa, DeeDee, Grandma, Ron, Grandpa, Tol, Kelly, Little Tol, and Yates!)! We are so blessed to have such a wonderful family!
Last night reminded me of how many wonderful Blessings God has placed in my life, he's always been a Constant in good times and in bad. I hope as a parent that I can raise Grant in a way that is pleasing to him.
Proverbs 22:6 "Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it"

Grant shares his Mama!

My friend, Leah, needed someone to watch her sweet little boy yesterday so I happily (and yes a little nervously) accepted! Colin just turned 4 months and is such a DOLL! He's got the biggest dimples when he grins, and yet the most pitiful little pout when he's sad! He melted me!
I was nervous because Grant just started walking but he still wants to be held ALOT, and I was unsure how that was going to work out! When Leah brought Colin to the house, Grant was all smiles and even offered to share his "Ap" (aka: Apple) with Colin! He would walk to Colin and say "Awwww... baby" and love on him. He even tried to give him a swing in his jumpy (fret not.. I was in arms length!). I talked to Emily and asked her to bring Nate over to keep Grant busy because I honestly didn't think he'd share me very long! The three boys had a great time.. of course Emily and I just had to get their picture together.. it took MANY attemps but we finally got them!

All 3 of the boys took cruddy naps :( So when Grant got up he was less than thrilled that Mommy was holding someone else... poor fella.. he didnt understand! I sat him beside me, as I held Colin, and read to both of them.. he'd look at Colin, give him "the eye" and then yank his sock off! Then he wanted to point out Colin's eyes, nose, and ears... as most of you know Grant is not the most gentle person and you should have seen Colin's expressions! Poor Colin, he was such a little trooper... Bless him!
All in all it was a great day and I dont have any complaints (Well.. wait.. I did change FOUR poopy diapers!!!!!)! At the end of the day I realized how hard it would be having twins.. God Bless the people who do!
And... I got my baby "fix"!!!! He's such a sweet little fella!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!!

RAWWRRR... says my little Dinosaur!

We had a fantastic Halloween! Grant loved his little costume and carried his little candy bucket like a Champ! Of course being that he doesnt stay up late and it was close to his supper time we only made three little stops! We went by my friend, Emily's, so Grant could see his buddy, Nate! Nate was dressed as a frog and Grant sd "Nit... Ogg".. it was a nice try.. he knew what he was talking about anyways! Emily was at her neighbors house and they have a little girl named Mallory, she's Nate's "girlfriend", and Grant loved her too.. what a lucky girl getting to hold two handsome boy's hand! After that we went to Nick and Mary Leigh's! There is a picture of NIck holding Grant that I love, because for some reason everytime Nick comes near Grant he screams.. it drives me crazy because Nick is so nice. Anyways.. Nick gave him some candy and Guess what? Grant loved him! HAHAH! After that we went back to our house and went by my neighbors house for our final stop! Grant loved going to the door and seeing all of the "Spooks". He would take his Big Bird to the door, hold it out to show the kids and say "BIRT"! He was a great sport and had a wonderful time!

Then today we took him to Buddy and Grandaddy's for Sunday dinner and dressed him in his Costume! Franklin rang the doorbell and we jumped out of the way so all they could see was a grinning green Dinosaur coming there way when they opened the door! Their faces were priceless.. Mom got so excited she fell in a bush.. HILARIOUS! There were too many pics to post individually so I made another slide show! Enjoy!
