For the past couple of weeks the Madewell household has been "under the weather" and its NOT BEEN FUN. Two weeks ago Grant, out of nowhere, came down with croup. We went to the Dr. immediately and she put him on a steroid (that I hope and pray he is never on again, it caused some serious behavior issues and insomnia) and sd he should be better in 4 days but will probably have a cough for about two weeks. The fun part? To keep Cole from getting it "keep them separated"... UM ... YAH RIGHT.. we are talking about a very active 10 month old that puts EVERYTHING in his mouth. After almost two full cans of Lysol he escaped the croup but then came down with an upper respiratory infection, which she said could last a total of 14 days. FUN TIMES. I won't go in to the details of losing my marbles calling the Dr's office (I could do an entire post on that scenario) but lets just say that they left out some important info that could've caused me more restful nights. ANYWAYS....
We had to get creative... what could we do that would be somewhat entertaining and keep them away from other kids? Well... unfortunately there were many movies watched, as you can see here we had a big ol' Buzz Lightyear party! We also set up a tent in the den along with sleeping bags and had many campouts!
We played outside..
Cole took some driving lessons while big Bro went on a nature walk with Daddy...
We played patty-cake, read books... and had some seriously bad hair days
But our favorite thing was going to the park and finding the biggest mud puddles of all to jump in! Im not usually the kind of mom that lets her kid get nasty but we put on some boots and let him have at it!
Grant was so cute following his Daddy's every move!
Cole just watched and giggled but it was pitiful to see how bad he wanted to get out and play with them.
The funniest part of all... on our walk back to the car Grant sd "Daddy I need to get the water out of my boots", we looked at each other confused (we thought his boots were water proof), and sat him down and took off his shoes and POURED about 1/4 inch of water out of each boot. Grant just laughed and then decided he needed to ride in Cole's stroller to the top of the hill. I can't say that I blame him! When he got in the car he wanted to strip down to his underwear because his jeans and socks were SOAKED and it was somewhat chilly!
Im happy to report that we are finally on the mend. It was NOT FUN but I am so grateful that we had very small "bugs" and nothing serious. My hat is off to the Mothers who have sick babies year round. Every time I felt myself wanting to have a meltdown of my own because I was tired or aggravated I kept thinking "SERIOUSLY, it could be worse". Thank you Lord for healthy babies!
